I wrote this song from the unpopular position of the guy who makes the decision to dump his girlfriend. Knowing full well that
this would never be the song I'd sing to prospective lovers, I nevertheless took it upon myself to make this guy seem likeable by
telling his side of the story. Sometimes you have to take a step forward, and no matter how delicately you try to put it,
when "The Words Are Free", there's no taking them back...
A humourous side note - my first plans for a debut album would be an album with mostly keyboard accompaniment. I told a friend
that it would be "no blaring guitars or anything". Tell that to Mike Francis...
