Another song written during the Orillia writing trip in January 2009, this song began its life with the first line of the song.
The melody was as you hear it, but the original line was "So glad you called", since I had just had my spirits lifted by a call
from home. As songwriting typically goes, the original first line of lyric was left behind in a cloud of dust as the song
evolved into something very different.
The song was still unfinished when we drove to New Jersey to begin recording the album. I gambled that perhaps the only
changes left to come would be lyrical changes, and recorded the piano track in New Jersey without vocal accompaniment. When
I returned home and finally finished the re-write, I added a pre-chorus section that didn't originally exist in the song,
so the New Jersey piano track was retired. The new piano part was recorded in my Kitchener studio, Left Side Studio, in the Spring
of 2010.
