Cue soundtrack music... I wrote the beginnings of this one while in Scotland in June 2003. Leaving the city life of Ontario and spending a week in a small town in southern Scotland, surrounded by rolling hills and winding roads, it's not hard to find the inspiration for a song called "Remember The Simple Things".

Originally my young Scottish cousins Mark and Jennifer were the subject of the opening verse, sitting on the curb in front of their house on a summer's day, eating ice cream with their black lab "Rosie" dying for a lick. Sorry, guys, that verse hit the cutting room floor, but your names lived on for the young couple in the last verse, struggling to make ends meet but keeping each other happy.
